Brantley Gilbert and Wife Welcome a Baby Boy

on

32-year-old country singer Brantley Gilbert and his wife Amber welcomed their new baby boy into the world on Saturday (11/11).

Barrett Hardy-Clay Gilbert was born at 1:37PM on Saturday, at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, Ga., People reports. He was born weighing 6 lbs., 7 oz., and measuring 20 inches long.

“Honestly, I’m just speechless. Watching the delivery, I don’t even know what to say,” Gilbert tells the magazine. “Amber and I are just so thankful and blessed to have this beautiful little boy.”

Barrett came a little sooner than his expected date of Nov. 17. According to People, it was a relatively quick delivery, too.

“It was really fast: Amber woke up, had a little pain. And the nurse said, ‘You’re ready.’ It was 30 minutes, and we had Barrett,” Gilbert explains. “And I have no words beyond, it’s even more than I could’ve ever imagined.”

Gilbert explained that the name was picked out “for a very, very long time;” they both knew they wanted a “B” name, and they both loved that name in particular. Barrett’s hyphenated middle name, meanwhile, honors both sides of his family: Gilbert’s PaPaw’s middle name was Clay, while Hardy is a family name from Amber’s father’s side.

Gilbert and Amber announced their pregnancy in mid-May, opening up at that time about their struggle to conceive. They revealed Barrett’s sex at a party in June.
