Brett Young Scores Fourth Consecutive #1 with “Mercy”

on

Congrats to Brett Young who’s latest single, “Mercy” is at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. The fete is the fourth consecutive song in a row to hit the top position on the charts for the California native.

“We knew pretty early that “Mercy” had to be a single because of the way the fans respond when I played it live,” said Young. “I wrote this song from a really vulnerable and honest place, so to see it go No. 1 is really special.”

The song wasn’t originally part of the ACM Awards New Male Vocalist of the Year‘s self-titled debut. The project already had 11 songs ready to go, but when he learned that he would need a twelfth, “Mercy” made the cut.

“That song made the 11th hour. We got we were gonna stop with 11 songs and then we found out iTunes needed us to have 12 and I went, ‘Well, I know which one it’s gonna be,’” he recalled.

“Mercy” is the fourth single from Young’s debut record, following the No.1 hits “Sleep Without You,” “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Like I Loved You.”
