Gov. DeWine Declares ‘Dolly Parton Day’ in Ohio

Governor Mike DeWine has declared Tuesday, August 9, 2022, honorary Dolly Parton Day in Ohio. The country music star and philanthropists and Ohio’s First Lady Fran DeWine will be in Columbus that day to celebrate the success of her Imagination Library in the Buckeye state.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio has made giant steps after gaining financial support from the Ohio General Assembly and is available to families in all of Ohio’s 88 counties. More than 327,000 children in Ohio are enrolled in the program, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was started in 1995 and has mailed millions of books across the country to children. It has also been doing well in the United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland. The program is open to children under the age of 5.
