John Mayer was performing at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on the day of the passing of Country legend, Glen Campbell. Mayer paid tribute to Campbell with his heartfelt and emotional version of “Gentle On My Mind.”
A video from a fan on YouTube shows Mayer performing an acoustic version of “Gentle on My Mind,” a hit for Campbell in 1968. Mayer led into the performance by saying it was his “favorite song in the world.” He told the audience he was playing it with more “love than precision,” but added that he wanted to make sure he played it on the day Campbell died.
