Lynyrd Skynyrd Farewell Tour Comes to Blossom Music Center

on

After a career that has spanned over 40 years, Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced their farewell tour, which will include appearances by some Country Music acts along the way.

The Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour will begin on Friday, May 4, in West Palm Beach, Fla., at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre. The tour will run through Sept. 1, and will make a stop at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on Friday, July 27 with special guests Marshall Tucker Band and Blackberry Smoke.

Other special guests that are joining Lynyrd Synyrd on their farewell tour include Kid Rock, Hank Williams, Jr., Charlie Daniels Band, Bad Company, 38 Special, and Blackfoot. The tour takes it’s name from the latest Lynyrd Skynyrd song, “The Last Of The Street Survivors” as well as the band’s fifth studio album, Street Survivors.

“It’s hard to imagine, after all these years, the band that Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins and myself started back in Jacksonville would resonate for this long and to so many generations of fans. I’m certain they are looking down from above, amazed that the music has touched so many,” says Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist and founding member Gary Rossington.

“We’ve been blessed by these great songs and the messages they carry to the fans,” lead vocalist Johnny Van Zant adds. “It’s been a true honor to try and fill in my brother’s footsteps for the past 31 years, keeping the music and his spirit alive.” Van Zant replaced his brother, original Skynyrd singer Ronnie Van Zant, in 1987 when Skynyrd resumed touring after the 1977 plane crash that killed Van Zant and several other band members.

The Southern Rockers are best known for their iconic anthems “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird,” that Rolling Stone said was “easily the most requested live song in existence.” With more than 30 million units sold over their career, the band and their music has become an integral part of America music with hits that also include “Simple Man,” “Gimme Three Steps,” “What’s Your Name,” “Call Me The Breeze,” “You Got that Right,” and many more.

Tickets for the Blossom Music Center appearance will go on sale to the public on Friday, Feb. 2, at 10am at LiveNation.com. Citi cardmembers will have access to purchase U.S. presale tickets beginning Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10am local time until Thursday, Feb. 1, at 10pm local time through Citi’s Private Pass program. More information on acts supporting the show at Blossom will be announced soon.
