Michael Ray Delivers High Energy Show on ‘Get To You Tour’

on

Michael Ray has said that he has learned a lot from the artists he has toured with – Darius Rucker, Brantley Gilbert and Sam Hunt to name a few. He brought that experience to his Think A Little Less Tour in 2016 and learned what his fans wanted to see in his live headlining shows. His Get To You Tour was one that Ray was ready to go all in with and from what he brought to the Thirsty Cowboy in Medina last Saturday, he is definitely hitting that mark.

The crowd was ready for a night of great music from Ray and from the moment he took the stage the energy just took off. Aside from his music, Ray brings a show that has him interacting with the crowd and he seems to feed off of their enthusiasm. He takes advantage of two riser boxes at the front of his stage to make sure he is performing to people in the back of the house as much as those stage front. The charismatic singer brings a sense of confidence and does it while still retaining a good guy image with his fans.

His 16-song set included songs from his debut album, as well as new tracks from his forthcoming sophomore project. He brought out one of my personal favorites, “Livin’ It Up” early in his set which was clearly a highlight for his fans at the show, too. He followed up with one of his chart topping hits, “Kiss You In The Morning,” and then a new song, “Like You Loved Me” which was definitely a hit with the crowd.

A few more of the new songs, “Her World Or Mine” and “Drink One For Me” prefaced the lead off single from his upcoming album, “Get To You.” Ray also included more of the favorites from his debut including the Ray and John Rich written tune “Runaway With You.”

He ended his show and then returned to the stage for an encore along with tour mate Devin Dawson for a great rendition of the David Lee Murphy hit, “Dust On The Bottle.” But, he wasn’t done yet and closed out the show with another of his #1 hits, and definitely one that many in the crowd were waiting for, “Think A Little Less.”

Dawson has been touring with Ray for most of the stops on the “Get To You Tour” and though still considered a new comer, he had his own legion of fans that packed the front of the stage for his entire 9-song opening set. Dawson worked the stage and seemed at ease with the crowd and his show. He did save two of his best songs for last and finished off his time on stage with his current single “All On Me” and the title track from his soon to be released debut, “Dark Horse.”

The “Get To You Tour” stop at Thirsty Cowboy was the seventh on the 15-city tour that wraps up December 9 in Warrendale, PA. The exact date of Ray’s upcoming album is yet to be released, but the same folks that lined up after the show to meet both of the artists for a public Meet & Greet will definitely be in line to purchase or download it as soon as it is.
