Michael Ray Heads to Dusty A with New Album Coming Soon

on

Michael Ray heads to Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown on Friday night (April 20), hot on the heels of the announcement of his sophomore album, Amos.

The album is named of honor of his grandfather who was his early musical inspiration and invited him to perform with the family band when he was only 9 years old. He passed away just two months before Ray would take the Grand Ole Opry stage for the very first time.

“The day I made my debut on the Opry stage, all I could think about was how he would be so proud,” Ray shared.

The cover of the new album features Ray standing in front of a dresser with a mirror, that has a framed picture, a watch, a bible, a coffee cup and a change dish on top. All of the items are symbolic of the memories of his grandfather.

“Looking back, that moment was a pivotal one – our family lost its patriarch,” Ray explains. “So, when we started making this record, before I would record vocals on the song I would ask myself, ‘Is this a song I would have played proudly for him?’ It makes this album that much more special to think he would have said, ‘Ray, that’s a good one.’”

Amos will feature 11 tracks, which includes tunes written by members of Old Dominion and newcomer Travis Denning, as well as the current Top 20 hit, “Get to You.” The album follows his self-titled debut which produced the #1 songs, “Kiss You in the Morning” and “Think a Little Less.”

The first track on Amos is “Fan Girl,” the song that Ray has been opening his live shows with on his current tour. The song is available to stream or download now (listen below), and the new album scheduled for a June 1 release, is available for digital pre-order starting today (April 20) on Ray’s website.

Michael Ray performs tonight with special guest Tim Montana at Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, Ohio. Doors open at 7pm; Montana at 9pm and Ray at 10pm. The show is Sold Out.
