Devin Dawson may be a new face in Country music but he has appeared and performed in videos that have millions of views on YouTube.
When Dawson was a student at Belmont University in Nashville he paired up with Louisa Wendorff, who was a fellow songwriting major for a mashup of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” and “Style.” The two came up with the idea over a Thanksgiving break when neither went home for the holiday and spent their time off recording the mash-up.
Days after the video was on YouTube, Swift herself acknowledged her praises with a Tweet that shared the video and simply said “Obsessed.” Within days the video went viral and to date have 33.5 million views.
The two went on to release the song on iTunes and even performed on the Live Countdown to the Grammy’s on the E network. Not too bad for a couple of students killing time over the holiday!
Devin Dawson will be performing at Legends Sports Pub and Grille in Green, Ohio for the 94.9 WQMX Rising Star Showcase on Thursday, April 13, 2017. The FREE acoustic concert will be followed by a Meet & Greet. Admission is FREE.
