Rodney Atkins Brings Half Dozen #1’s to Thirsty Cowboy

on

Rodney Atkins signed a contract with Curb records back in 1997, but didn’t release his debut album, Honesty, until 2003. The project spurned a couple of top 40 country hits on the charts and a #4 with the title track. His sophomore album “If You’re Going Through Hell” reached #3 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and topped more than 1 million in sales. The 2006 release produced four #1 hits for Atkins including “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows),” “These Are My People,” “Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy)” and “Watching You,” which was also named the #1 of the decade by Country Aircheck.

The title tracks of Atkins’ third and fourth albums, 2009′s “It’s America” and 2011′s “Take a Back Road,” both hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

The ACM award winner will bring those songs to Thirsty Cowboy in Medina on Saturday, February 17 along with opening act Drew Baldridge.

Atkins is currently working on his fifth studio album for Curb Records that is scheduled to be released sometime this year. The lead off single, “Caught Up in the Country” is due out soon.

Atkins also serves as the spokesman for the National Council for Adoption. A child of adoption himself, Atkins volunteers for the council on a large scale and also makes time to visit the Holston Methodist Home for Children in Greenville, Tennessee, where he was adopted as a baby.
