Scene Magazine presents Pig & Whiskey in Downtown Willoughby August 26-28 with over 14 BBQ restaurants, over 50 whiskeys, bourbons and scotches and 20 beers in the beer garden.  One of the highlights is the rib compettion and there is also plenty of live music, including all country music on Sunday, August 28.

The country music gets going on Sunday with Cleveland’s own Caliber Band at 1:30pm; and then a native Clevelander who now calls Nashville home, Suzi Oravec at 3:45pm; next up is Scene Magazine’s Best Cover Band winners, Post Road at 6:00pm and closing out the day and the event is Nashville Recording Artists Brother Trouble at 8:15pm.

Brother Trouble has been promoting their latest single, “We call It Friday Night,” which they recorded on newly founded Blazing Records. The group consists of brothers Mark and Jason Sutton. The brothers moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2002 from their hometown in South Carolina and have been regulars at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon on top of touring and recording their album for Blazing Records. They are the past winners of Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” Competition and were touted that they “were by far the best” by Chesney himself.

Post Road

The band has been keeping busy this summer with show’s from Twilight at the Zoo to opening for Uncle Kracker and Rodney Atkins and Post Road isn’t slowing down!  The band will be performing at Redhawk Grille in Concord this Friday August 19 and then head back to Shooter’s on the Water on the West Bank of the Flats in Cleveland for their Summer Finale on Saturday, August 27.  Then on Sunday, August 28 at 6:00pm the band is performing at the Scene Magazine Pig & Whiskey event in Downtown Willoughby opening for Nashville recording artists Brother Trouble.

Post Road just completed the mastering of their six-song CD of original tunes and expect to be releasing the CD by Thanksgiving.  For more information on Post Road, including their upcoming shows check out their website at PostRoadCountry.com.

The Caliber Band

The band started off the month playing the main stage at the WGAR Country Jam in Lorain and will close out August with their performance at the Scene Magazine Pig & Whiskey event on the 28th.  The Caliber Band also has lots of other great venues that they will be performing at including their opening slot on the WGAR Afternoon Saloon on Wednedsay, August 24 at Quaker Steak & Lube in Sheffield.  The band goes on at 5:00pm and then Sony Music artist Maren Morris takes the stage.

The Caliber Band will also be performing at the Hollywood Casino in Toledo on Friday, August 26 and at the Mentor City Fest on Saturday, August, 27.

Kyle Thomas

Music has been keeping Kyle Thomas busy – From writing on music row and playing acoustically in Nashville earlier this month, to returning to Ohio to play a stint of shows regionally at Thirsty Cowboy, Whiskey Ranch, and Hale’s Harley Davidson, Thomas is continuing to build momentum. This Saturday, August 20, he will be opening up for fellow Ohio-native Carter Winter at Schmitt’s Saloon in Morgantown, WV. Kyle Thomas and his band, Big Machine, will then be back in Northeast Ohio August 27 for a show at Whiskey Ranch CAK in Green. Following those performances, Thomas has a few more acoustic shows in Ohio before returning to Nashville for the month of September to continue songwriting, playing shows, and growing as an artist.

Hallway 44

Hallway 44 has been staying busy this summer playing shows all over Northern and Central Ohio.  The six member band consists of Brian Trautman on rhythm guitar and vocals; Kayla on vocals; Jeff Willis on Vocals; Geoff Starnes on lead guitar and vocals; Chuck Jones on bass and Mike Hobart on drums.

The group will be performing this Friday, August 19 at Bud’s Corner in Louisville and on Saturday, August 20 at Sons of Herman in Massilon.  Then they will get ready for one of their biigest shows of the year on Saturday, August 27 at Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown.

Logan Wells

Logan Wells will present A Tribute To Patsy Cline – Dinner Show on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Al Koran Shriners at 1000 E. Edgerton Road in Broadview Hts., Ohio. Doors open 4:00pm – dinner at 5:00pm and the show at 6:00pm.

The 90 minute biographical stage production tells the story of Country music’s legendary Patsy Cline.  The show includes a narrative and a special DVD presentation interlaced between more than 20 of Patsy Cline’s most beloved songs. The show tells the story of her humble beginnings in Winchester, VA to her meteoric rise to fame. Patsy Cline’s songs are as popular today as they were when she was alive to sing them herself. Close your eyes, and you’ll swear Patsy Cline is there singing at the Grand Ol’ Opry all of her treasured hits including “Crazy”, “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walkin’ After Midnite,” “Sweet Dreams,” “She’s Got You,” “Leavin’ on Your Mind,” “San Antonio Rose,” “Always,” “Faded Love” and many more!

Cleveland Country Charities

The Cleveland Country Charities eleventh annual fundraiser will take place at Thirsty Cowboys in Medina on Saturday, September 17th. This year’s event will benefit The Greater Cleveland Fisher House. The event will have auctions, 50/50’s and raffles, and of course some of the area’s finest country bands to entertain all day and night!

We will have more details in the next installment of On The Homefront, but be sure to mark your calendars and save the date for this worthy cause.

Cleveland Country Charities will also be hosting a golf outing & fundraiser on Sunday, September 11. Tee off time is at 2:00pm with lunch before and steak dinner after or non-golfers come for the dinner portion at 7:00pm at the pavilion for a great steak dinner, corn hole, bon fires, music, raffles, and silent auction. They are seeking family and business sponsorship’s, as well.
