The debut performance at Rupp came in January 1993 as a featured entertainer at a truck pull, and he returned in September 1994 to open the show for Reba McEntire. From 1996 on, Montgomery played Rupp as a headliner.

Joining the country music legend for his final show on "The Road Home Tour" are his brother Eddie Montgomery (of Montgomery Gentry), his son Walker Montgomery and his son-in-law, Travis Denning.
