The 24th Annual Guitars for Girls benefit concert, hosted by 99.5 WGAR, was another resounding success in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. With $21,145 collected through Guitars for Girls and an additional $2,500 donation from Lexus of Cleveland, the event demonstrated the remarkable generosity of Northeast Ohio’s country music community. The sold-out crowd packed the venue for a night of unforgettable performances from Mackenzie Carpenter and Tucker Wetmore, both of whom donated their time and talent to the cause.
Carpenter, joined by her brother, immediately captured the audience with her bubbly, funny, and charismatic personality. Known for her co-writing on Megan Moroney’s hit “I’m Not Pretty,” she captivated the audience with stories, charm, and standout performances. “Hunting Season” had the whole crowd cheering and laughing along. By the end of her set, she had the room wrapped around her finger.
Wetmore brought equal parts fun and heart to the stage. His playful spirit was contagious as he moved seamlessly between originals and crowd-pleasing covers, including a standout rendition of the Georgia Satellites’ “Keep Your Hands to Yourself,” which highlighted his powerful and unique vocals. At the piano, his first love since the age of 10, Wetmore shined as both a musician and entertainer. Throughout his entire set, he took his time to interact with fans and share personal moments. He even paused to sign a Labubu collectible for a 5-year-old, creating a memory that captured the warmth of the evening.
Together, Carpenter and Wetmore turned the night into more than a concert. It was a celebration of community, compassion, and the healing power of music. As the event marked its 24th year, it reinforced why Guitars for Girls has become one of Northeast Ohio’s most beloved and impactful annual traditions.
