Country music star Blake Shelton has teamed up with Ryman Hospitality, who operates the famed Grand Ole Opry and Opryland, and recently announced that they will be opening up a new bar/restaurant on Nashville’s famous Lower Broadway district.
The plans for the 26,000 square foot facility include a stage that will also host rising Country acts, as well as karaoke. The venue will also have a balcony where people can look over the space from above, a retail area and a private meeting facility for groups up to 450.
The name for the new venue is “Ole Red, ” which not only pays tribute to Shelton’s 2001 hit song, but also the Grand Ole Opry – the live radio show that made Country music famous in the early 1900’s.
Ryman Hospitality is also planning to open more locations of “Ole Red” including one in Shelton’s hometown of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
“It’s amazing to me to see a song that’s been such a big part of my career come to life in the plans for Ole Red,” Shelton stated in a press release. “Nashville and Tishomingo are both places that are important to me, and it’s great that each location is going to have its own personality inspired by one of my favorite songs. It’s always been a dream of mine to create something like this where people know they’re going to have a good time as soon as they walk in the door, and I couldn’t be more excited that my friends at the Opry and Ryman Hospitality Properties are making it happen.”
