Thompson Square Brings “This Is Us Tour” to The Kent Stage

on

It’s been five years since Thompson Square has had a new album out, but with their upcoming Masterpiece the husband and wife duo are ready to make their way back onto the charts. They will share some of the new music when they bring their acoustic This Is Us Tour to The Kent Stage on Saturday, April 7.

“We are beyond excited to announce our very first nationwide acoustic tour and giving our fans a completely different Thompson Square experience,” Keifer Thompson shared in a press release. “We’ll be going back to where it all began while creating a brand-new beginning. It’s going to be a very special tour. Don’t miss it.”

Keifer and his wife Shawna originally met over 20 years ago when they both moved to Nashville to pursue solo careers. The couple hit it off and started performing together, first for tips and then adding their background vocals for other artists recordings, including Ty Herndon’s 2007 album, Right About Now.

They were signed to a record deal in 2010 and released their first single, “Let’s Fight” later that same year and received great reviews. But it was their second single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not,” that really made an impact on country music fans and earned them their first No. 1. The song has since gone double platinum and the self-titled debut album which contained the song was certified gold. Their follow up album, Just Feels Good contained their second No. 1, “If I Didn’t Have You.”

Plans were in the works for them to work on their third album when life kind of took over and with Shawna pregnant they decided to focus more on family. Now with their forthcoming album, set to be released on June 1, they are ready to to bring forth a collection of songs that they have wanted to for a long time. The tile track, “Masterpiece” was actually inspired by their first-born son, Cooper.

The ACM and CMA award winners won’t be bringing any flashy production and don’t even have a band backing them on their This Is Us Tour. Instead, it’s a chance for them to get up close and personal with their fans, share some stories and their great harmonies.

Thompson Square will be performing at The Kent Stage on Saturday, April 7 at 8:00pm. Tickets are $32.50-$39.50 and are available at TheKentStage.com.
