Stapleton, Rhett Lead ACM Award Nominees

on

Reba McEntire started the unveiling of nominations for the 2018 ACM Awards on her Facebook page earlier this morning (March 1) by sharing the names of artists who received nods for the Song of The Year. She then stopped by CBS This Morning to reveal more nominations. McEntire, the 16-time ACM Award winner, will return to host this year’s event and is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Chris Stapleton leads the nominations with a total of eight, while Thomas Rhett scored six nods. Keith Urban has five, and Miranda Lambert is tied with Maren Morris with four ACM Awards nominations. Sam Hunt, Little Big Town and Midland are all up for three ACMs.

Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Stapleton and Urban will compete in the biggest category, Entertainer of the Year.

Not a lot of big surprises in most of the major categories, but Old Dominion receiving a nomination in the the Album category for Happy Endings and Blake Shelton on the list for Single with “I’ll Name The Dogs” do stand out. Shelton was completely shut out of the awards in 2017.

Another surprise was the New Female Vocalist category. While all other awards have five nominees, this one only has four. Lauren Alaina, who released her debut album in 2011, is part of the mix.

In the Vocal Duo category – Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are nominated along with duos such as Florida Georgia Line and Brothers Osborne. The couple released The Rest of Our Life, their first all-duets album in November.

In the Vocal Event category – Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson’s are nominated for their collaboration on “Funny (How Time Slips Away)” from Campbell’s final set, Adios.

The 2018 ACM Awards are set to take place on April 15, 2018. They will broadcast live on CBS at 8pm (ET) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
