Carrie Underwood fans have something to get excited about this Monday morning. The singer told fans that she will be releasing a new single on Wednesday, April 11 and then she will officially debut the song during the 2018 ACM Awards.
In an Instagram post on Sunday night (April 8), she shared an image of an eye with glitter running down like tears. The photo was simply captioned, “This Wednesday, April 11. 6am ET.”
Earlier this morning (April 9), the Academy of Country Music announced Underwood as a performer for the 2018 ACM Awards, which will take place on Sunday night (April 15) and air live on CBS at 8pm ET.
Social media followers of Underwood already knew that she was working on new material when she shared a photo of herself in the studio. In January, Underwood did release a new song, “The Champion,” which was utilized for the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics broadcasts. The release date for her new album has yet to be released, but when it does it will be her first since her 2015 Storyteller.
Her appearance at the ACM Awards will be one of the first times that she will be on national TV since her fall outside her home days after the CMA Awards last November that injured her wrist and required stitches for her face. Since then she has been careful not to share too much on social media and when she has, concealed most of her face. The latest studio shot from April 4 is the first where you can see an unobstructed view of most of her face since the accident.
