Shawn Perry & The Hazzard County Rebellion

One of my favorite parts of putting together On The Homefront is getting to hear from all of the different country bands in Northern and Central Ohio. This week, I was contacted by Shawn Perry of Vermilion, Ohio. His band, Shawn Perry & The Hazzard County Rebellion is a mix of country, hard rock, bluegrass, classic rock with a little punk mixed in. Perry describes it as, “Whisky Snortin’ high octane 190 proof Rustbelt Country.”

Perry, has been a MTV “Made” Coach and owns a guitar shop. The rest of his singing, songwriting and playing comes from a background that, as he puts it is, “basicially what happens when you live in a family where your great grand mother made shine for Hank Williams, Ricky Skaggs is a blood relative, but your older brother really liked Van Halen.”

From just the small interaction with Perry, it’s apparent that this guy enjoys what he is doing. Shawn Perry & The Hazzard County Rebellion have released their music and are already planning the next full length CD for later this Fall. Perry stated that the next CD is tentatively being called, “The Collective American Unconscious.” They will be cutting the tracks with a multiplication producer if all goes according to a plan. Musically, Perry & The Hazzard County Rebellion will be delving deeper on either side of their Country/Rock hybrid sound, and adding more bluegrass and even some hip-hop to the mix.

Shawn Perry & The Hazzard County Rebellion will be playing Rockin’ On The River at Black River Landing on Friday, June 3rd; Tim Owen’s Traveller Tavern on Friday, June 10th and return to the Cleveland Agora, where their last show was Sold Out, on Sunday, June 12th. You can listen to their music and find out more about the band on their Facebook page or at www.ReverbNation.com
