Rachel Brown & The Beatnik Playboys Release New Album

on

Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys have long been fans of traditional country music, and on her latest project she gets to highlight her songwriting abilities and passion for classic sounds of country and honky-tonk music, alongside a blend of music she has been creating for the last 15 years.

Full Moon Rendezvous brings the classic country back with songs like “Honky Tonk Moon,” and a cover of “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” where Roger Hoover collaborates with Brown on the 1973 classic.

Brown has been known for her Patsy Cline Tribute shows, and on Full Moon Rendezvous she performs her ode to the singer with “Favorite Pastime.” Brown’s voice and the production of the song will make you feel as if you traveled back in time when you hear the classic sounds in the song.

Full Moon Rendezvous was recorded at Suma Recording Studio in Painesville, Ohio, and mastered at Well Made Music in Bristol, Virginia, and produced by Brown.

In addition to Brown’s bandmates, Dave Huddleston, Roy King and Bill Watson, the album features some of the most talented local artists, including Austin Walkin’ Cane, Robert & Jack Kidney (The Numbers Band), Brian Davidson, Emma Shook (Cleveland Orchestra), David J. Young (keyboardist for Michael Stanley & Alex Bevan), Mark Freeman, Al Moss, Caroline King, and Paul Kovac, who all added their touch to the project.

“This was a dream project of mine. It was a true joy to add so much additional local talent to our project. They truly helped bring my songs to life,” stated Brown in a press release.

Brown wrote 13 of the 15 tracks for the album and co-wrote the duet sung with Robert Kidney, “It’s Been a While”, with her husband Mark Freeman.

The songs on the album showcase her incredible songwriting abilities and passion for traditional country/honky tonk music. While others reflect her love for gospel, rockabilly and there’s even a touch of Cajun/Creole music with the title track, “Full Moon Rendezvous.”

Brown spends her days teaching music at Elyria’s Eastern Heights Middle School, and performs her music at venues all over Northeast Ohio, including her Patsy Cline Tribute which will be featured at the Music Box Supper Club for their Mother’s Day Brunch on May 12th.

Whether a fan of classic country or a fan of original homegrown music, Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys hit the mark. The embodiment of experience, talent and an overall love for music comes through in everything they put out and their latest, Full Moon Rendezvous, will definitely make those music fans happy.
