Scotty McCreery – On The Journey of His Dreams

Scotty McCreery won the tenth season of American Idol in May 2011. His debut studio album, Clear As Day was released in October of the same year and went on to be certified platinum in the United States. The album includes the top 20 country songs, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls.”

In high school McCreery started the freshman year as a tenor in the choir, but by the time he was a sophomore he was singing bass and also singing in his church choir.

In 2009, McCreery won a singing contest called “Clayton Idol”, at the Clayton Harvest Festival in Clayton, North Carolina. After winning, he held several local shows with the radio station, raising money for sick children Later the same year, he was one of thirty-six finalists in a contest called Rip the Hallways, which featured teenage vocalists from across North Carolina.

While on American Idol, McCreery performed several duets with fellow contestant, Lauren Alaina.  The two were the youngest on the show to duet together, Alaina just 16 and McCreery just 17 at the time.  When he won he became the youngest winner of the show in it’s history.

After winning American Idol, McCreery released his debut album, which was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. And, he became the youngest male and first country music artist in history to have his first album debut atop the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

McCreery released a Christmas album, Christmas with Scotty McCreery in October 2012 and it has been certified gold. He  then released his third album, See You Tonight, in October 2013. The first single from the album, also called “See You Tonight”, became his first song to reach the top ten on the country charts.

About the time he turned 21 in 2014, “Feelin’ It” became his second consecutive Top Ten hit. That same year, McCreery released his fan-favorite single “Southern Belle” with an accompanying music video that quickly topped GAC’s “Top 20 Countdown.”

McCreery released his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, in May 2016.

McCreery is currently touring and writing songs for his next album which he hopes will be released later this year or early next. The album is being produced by Frank Rogers.

Scotty McCreery will be performing at the WGAR Country Jam on Saturday, August 6 at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio.
