Troy Gentry Killed in Helicopter Crash

Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo Montgomery Gentry was involved in a helicopter crash around 1pm on Friday at the Flying W Airport in Medford, N.J. which has resulted in the death of country music star. Gentry was 50.

Sources close to the family, as well as a a Twitter post from the band, confirmed that Gentry was killed in the crash. Two individuals were killed. Eddie Montgomery was not on board the helicopter.

Details about the crash, including the identity of a second man killed, haven’t been released.

The Flying W Airport & Resort in Medford, where the concert was set to take place, announced in a Facebook post Friday afternoon that the show had been canceled. The duo was also scheduled to perform at the Wayne County Fair in Wooster, Ohio on Sunday, September 10.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration told the Courier-Post a Schweitzer 269 “crashed in a wooded area off the end of runway 1,” and that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board would soon begin an investigation into the incident.

The crash happened near the site of the concert in Medford, NJ.
