Born Eric Thomas Paslay in Abilene, Texas on January 29th, 1983. Eric Paslay, as he is now known in country music, started to play guitar at age 15. He played country clubs around Texas, and graduated from Middle Tennessee University in 2005. He signed to EMI Records in Nashville in the middle part of 2011 and began his music career.
Paslay, has become known as a singer who records songs that can be related to by the average person, and considering he is in country music that is a great thing for him. “I just love making music. I love how much you can say to someone in a song,” he says. “I want to be a part of the soundtrack of people’s lives.”
After Paslay signed to EMI Records, he released four singles for the label. His third, “Friday Night”, was a Top 5 hit in early 2014. His follow up single, “Song About A Girl” was another hit and the next “She Don’t Love You,” was nominated as Song of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards.
He also co-wrote Jake Owen’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” the Will Hoge/Eli Young Band song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” and Love and Theft’s “Angel Eyes,” all of which were number 1 singles on the country charts. He has written album cuts for Lady Antebellum and the Rascal Flatts 2014 single “Rewind”.
Paslay, was also a recent Grammy Nominee in the Best Country Duo/Group category for “The Driver,” performed by Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, featuring Dierks Bentley and Paslay. A true artist’s artist, USA Today calls Paslay “flat out-brilliant” and
American Songwriter names him an influencer of country music. Paslay recently released his back beat-driven groove “High Class,” the lead single from his highly-anticipated sophomore album.
Though Paslay enjoys recording and has an affinity for the studio, his true love is the stage. He has a passion for using his voice to connect with an audience, and there’s a warm, earnest quality that commands attention. “I turn it on when I get on stage. I love to entertain,” said Paslay.
