Local Band Spotlight: Rough Cut

on

Name of the Band/Act: Rough Cut

When did band form: 2013

Members: Rob Stell – Lead Vocals/Guitar; Joe Torrieri – Bass Guitar and Mike St. Amand – Drums/Vocals.

About the band:  Rough Cut got together after finding each other on social media. They found that they had the same musical interests and more importantly, got along well with each other. Stell, who lives and works in Ashtabula County, started playing music when he was 6 years old, but didn’t start on guitar until he was 20. He has spent the last 25 playing in various bands in the area. St. Amand, was the original founding member of the group. He hails from Louisiana and started playing drums seven years ago. Torrieri, who lives and works in Lake County, started playing guitar as a teenager, but about ten years ago switched over to bass and has been hooked ever since.

The trio likes to do everything big, from guitars to drums. A self described power trio, Rough Cut brings a modern “rockin’ country” to their sound. A ZZ Top meets Lynyrd Skynrd type mix that brings out the Southern style dance music to their shows.

The Northeast Ohio based group performs all over the area and into Western Pennsylvania. The recently performed in Downtown Geneva for the annual Grape Jamboree Festival and will be performing at Jewels Dance Hall in Austinburg, Ohio on October 28 for their Halloween Party.

Why you should see their show:  Rough Cut plays a wide variety of Modern Country, Country Rock and Southern Rock at their live performances. The guys definitely like to keep the energy up and keep the people on the dance floor. Their mix of everyone from Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Luke Bryan, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others provide the perfect covers for their set list list. The group performs many popular tunes, but doesn’t like to do the same old stuff that has been done so many times, so watch out for a few surprises.

Websites/Socials/Videos: You can follow Rough Cut and get show updates on their Facebook page.
