Luke Combs is making more history on the country charts. Combs claimed the top two spots on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his latest single, “Love You Anyway,” which became his 17th #1. His cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” which topped the charts, is currently at #2. This makes Combs the first artist to fill the #1 and #2 positions on the Country Airplay chart since the chart first made it’s debut in 1990.
Chapman also made history as the first solo Black female songwriter to have a #1 song on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. “I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I’m honored to be there,” Chapman said in a statement at the time. “I’m happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced ‘Fast Car.’”
