The Twinsburg based country band Post Road was busy last weekend setting attendance records at two local outdoor festivals in Twinsburg and Mentor. Playing Rock the Park in Twinsburg on Friday, July 14, Post Road performed to a hometown sold out crowd, estimated at more than 1,500, who enjoyed a great evening of both originals and new country favorites. The band was formed about five years ago in Twinsburg and the community continues to rally around the band no matter where they play in Northeastern Ohio.
The weather, the music and the crowd all made for a perfect summer evening party of country music and good times. The band performed most of the originals form their debut CD, That’s My Road which was released last fall, plus a few new tunes that will be recorded for a new project this year. The highlight of the evening was a new song, written by guitarist Steve Radcliff, called “Drinking For Two,” that dealt with losing someone close to you. This hit close to home for the band and everyone in attendance as lead singer Shawn Roland dedicated it to his brother who past away suddenly last year.
A few days later, on July 18, Post Road headlined the brand new Mentor Rocks Civic Center Amphitheater and played to a capacity crowd estimated at 4,000. This new facility is amazing and is proving to be a great place for concerts and for the community to enjoy live music. This audience was more family oriented and provided an opportunity for fans under the age of 18 to enjoy Post Road and their music.
Once again mixing both cover songs and originals, Post Road kept fans entertained with their music and the lively antics of their drummer and two lead singers. Drummer Dave Vogrin is a force to be reckoned with, and his style of drumming is energetic, frantic and musical at all the same time. Often fans will keep their eyes on him more than the singers due to his craziness and ability to entertain the audience.
Post Road kept the party going well past the scheduled end time, keeping fans dancing and singing to the very end. With a weekend of record setting gigs, Post Road continues to demonstrate why they are one of the most acclaimed country bands in Northeast Ohio.
