Russell Dickerson Brings “Yours” to Thirsty Cowboy

on

Russell Dickerson has been climbing the charts ever since his single, “Yours” hit radio back in April of this year. The song worked it’s way up over the months and became the first Top Ten for the singer/songwriter and it still isn’t done.

The song was originally on Dickerson’s four-song EP that was released over two years ago. The song, “Yours,” along with “Every Little Thing,” “Blue Tacoma,” and “MGNO” have been a part of his live shows since they were released, and are sure to be a part of the set list this Saturday when Dickerson performs at Thirsty Cowboy in Medina.

“Yours,” was originally offered on streaming music services and was added by XM and Spotify that really broadened the song’s reach and Dickerson garnered opening slots on tours with Billy Currington and Thomas Rhett. The song really hit mass appeal when the video came out and since has been viewed nearly 9 million times. The video was shot for $6 by Dickerson’s wife when the time was right one evening. He later explained the planning on how it came about in an interview with Hollywood Life.

“I knew the idea, and kind of what road I wanted it to be, and we went out there and just started shooting and every time we would pause shooting, Kailey was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there’s lightening everywhere!’” His wife added , “I was trying not to freak out and shake the camera, but everyone time it would happen I’d just want to be like, ‘Woo!’”

Dickerson’s first studio album came out a few month’s ago and contains all four of the songs from his EP along with a Wedding Edition of the title-track that has become a staple at ceremonies over the past couple years. In 2016, the magazine, The Knot named “Yours” the top new wedding song of the year.

Dickerson had already written 100’s of songs by the time he wrote “Yours,” a song that originally started out as a love letter to his wife, Kailey. It could definitely turn out to be the one that helps make his career.

Russell Dickerson will be performing along with special guest Livy Jeanne at Thirsty Cowboy in Medina on Saturday, December 16. The show is ages 18+. Doors open at 7pm; opening act at 8:30pm and Dickerson at 10pm. Tickets are $10 and are available at ThirstyCowboy.com.
