Toby Keith has made numerous trips overseas to perform for our military and his 2003 hit “American Soldier” paid homage to the sacrifices these heroes make everyday while protecting our freedoms. The song is embraced by the military and veterans and was even chosen as a song to dance to by a wounded warrior on Dancing With The Stars.
But, Keith also takes the time to meet with other types of heroes and was asked by Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2005 to do a Meet & Greet at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, with a boy who was being treated at the Cleveland Clinic. 10-year-old Trevor Scott was to meet Keith before the show as part of his wish, but when Scott asked the singer if he could join him on stage to sing his favorite song “American Soldier,” Keith could not turn him down.
Days later Scott underwent a liver transplant and has been reportedly doing well. His father remarked online that he was attending school and aspired to go to law school.
