Brooke Eden is determined to make it in music and has shown that throughout her music career. A contemporary country artist with drive and a little attitude, Eden made her way into the music business on her own, and her self-reliance became the focus of one of her signature songs.
Eden was born Brooke Helvie in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1989 and music was always present in their home. Her father was a carpenter and spent time playing in a country band in the area. Eden would often go with her dad and after a while had the opportunity to sing with the band. By the time she was in her early teens she had alraedy developed into a talented singer, and was playing local festivals and opening shows for country stars like Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn. She also performed with her high school friend, Cassadee Pope, who went on to her own successful singing career.
In 2008, Eden auditioned for the music competition series American Idol, and got a “Yes” from judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson. When her audition was broadcast, her status as Miss South Florida was made fun of, and while she made it to Hollywood, she was cut from the show after the first day. Eden didn’t let that affect experience affect her desire to become a country singer. She went to the University of Florida and earned a marketing degree, and then relocated to Nashville.
She soon became a regular at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, one of Music City’s most celebrated showcases for up and coming singers and would return to Florida for paying gigs at home. In 2014, Eden released a self-titled five-song EP, and later that same year, she released the single “American Dreamin’,” which made a mark on satellite radio. In 2015, she signed with Red Bow Records, a branch of the BBR Music Group that has also guided the careers of Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, and Thompson Square. Eden’s first single for Red Bow, “Daddy’s Money,” was released in December 2015, and was a celebration of her blue-collar upbringing and her determination to make her own way in life. The song quickly became an anthem for Eden and her fans. She is currently working on songs for what she hopes to will be her full length debut with Red Bow.
Brooke Eden will be performing at the WGAR Country Jam on Saturday, August 6 at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio.
