It’s hard to believe that Joe Nichols career in Country music has spanned over two decades. The award winning singer has placed six songs in the #1 spot on the charts and is a multi-platinum recording artist with his nine studio albums.
Nichols released his first self-titled album in 1996 on the small Intersound Record Label, but would have to wait another six years until his next album was released. That album, Man With A Memory spawned the hits “The Impossible,” which was his first #1 and “Brokenheartsville,” which was his next. The success of the album secured him a place in Nashville and helped him to win the Top New Male Vocalist at the ACM Awards and the Horizon Award at the CMA’s.
He visited the top of the charts four more times with “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” in 2005, “Gimmie That Girl” in 2010, “Sunny and 75” in 2013 and “Yeah” in 2014.
Nichols is currently on his own headlining tour and will make a stop tonight at the Goodyear Theater in Akron for a show with special guests, Georgia native Joe Hall and Alliance, Ohio based singer/songwriter Chris Kraft.
Kraft was the winner of the Goodyear Theater and Nichols sponsored contest to find an opening act. He has been making a name for himself around the region with his original music and will also perform at Canal Park in Akron, Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown and the Stark County Fair later this year.
Kraft is thrilled to have the chance to open for Nichols and perform at the Goodyear Theater and expressed his emotions about the opportunity when we spoke to him earlier this week. “I feel blessed to have been chosen from such a talented group of musical acts. It’s an honor to open for such an amazing artist at such a fantastic venue.”
