Rock and Country Run Side by Side at Dragway 42 Music Festival

on

At a venue known for high horsepower from finely tuned engines, it’s an easy transition to the high energy of some finely tuned musicians. The inaugural Dragway 42 Music festival on July 28 & 29 will do just that pairing rock legends Ted Nugent, Steven Adler, Cheap Trick and Warrant, with some popular country from Big & Rich and Jon Langston.

Dragway 42 is located in West Salem, Ohio (9161 Rainbow Highway) and originally opened in 1957. In 2017, the venue went through complete ground up renovations on the multi-purpose facility that is host to Drag Racing, Autocross Racing, Tractor & Truck Pulling and Concerts/Music Festivals as well as many other specialty events.

Dragway 42 was purchased by Ron and Mary Ann Matcham in 2013.

“Ron has always wanted to bring music entertainment to the facility,” Mary Ann Matcham said in a press release. “While sitting at a country concert himself, the light bulb went off when he saw the hills and mounds for spectators and fans to sit on to watch racing and now concerts.”

The festival begins on Friday, July 28 with Jon Langston at 5:45 pm, followed by Big & Rich at 7:30 pm, before headliner Ted Nugent takes the stage at 9:15 pm. On Saturday, July 29 the shows starts with Steven Adler at 5:45pm, followed by Warrant at 7:30pm, and headliner Cheap Trick at 9:15 pm

“The rest of the reconstruction design is history.” stated Mary Ann. “So for our first music festival, we’re bringing in legends. The ones who started out small and are now written down in history. So, get your ears ready because we’re going to rock the whole town of West Salem, Ohio, for two days straight.”
