Thirsty Cowboy Celebrates 6th Anniversary

on

With a love of country music and the desire to fill a need for a live music venue in the area that hosted local and national country acts, Thirsty Cowboy opened their doors six years ago. The duo of Aaron Lind and his grandfather, Ted Brown had worked tirelessly for months to get the club in operation. The Medina club will host their 6th Anniversary Party this Friday, October 6.

The country club officially opened their doors on October 7, 2011 and that first night turned out to be a great indication for what would come. Thirsty Cowboy had Tony Rio on stage for the grand opening and opened at 6pm, by 8pm the place was packed.

Their first national show came in December of 2011 with David Allan Coe taking the stage and performing for a sold out crowd, which would be the first of many at Thirsty Cowboy. Since that first show, the club has hosted everyone from Sam Hunt, Canaan Smith, Aaron Lewis and too many more to even list. They have become known for their intimate concert feel with some of Country Music’s biggest names.

Line Dancers and Country Music fans all find something to enjoy at Thirsty Cowboy.

Along with presenting national acts, Thirsty Cowboy has always offered live music with some of the area’s top local country bands. While it was hard for Lind to pick any one favorite over the past six years, many favorite nights still do come to the forefront of the memories. “Opening night with Tony Rio singing while walking down the bar. John Hardy playing our first New Year ’s Eve party. Coalie’s Run playing to a packed house on Thanksgiving Eve during our first year and Mark Leach preforming an epic three-hour straight set to a sellout crowd for his EP release have been some of the highlights,” he explained.

Take a ride on the TC Tornado at Thirsty Cowboy, the area’s only mechanical bull.

But the biggest highlights for Lind are “every time a Band (local or national) say they love playing here and look forward to coming back, when customers tell us how much they love coming and how this is home for them, and when first timers say how they didn’t expect to have such a great time.”

Lind’s grandfather passed away last year, but he speaks for him and all the staff at the country bar when he said, “we at Thirsty Cowboy just want to say ‘thank you’. Thank you to all those who come every week, those who come for our concert series, and to those who only get out a couple times a year. We greatly appreciate all that walk through the doors.”

Thirsty Cowboy offers live music every weekend and a schedule of national acts that include Michael Ray with Devin Dawson on October 21, David Nail on November 18, Colt Ford with Chase Cummings on November 25 and many more upcoming concerts.

The club also offers Line Dance Lessons every Wednesday and Friday at 7:30pm with Deborah Siebert, who has been teaching at the club since they opened. There’s also TC Tornado, the area’s only mechanical bull, pool tables, games and a whole lot more.
