If you follow social media you know that WGAR 99.5FM is the media sponsor for the Avon Hot Country Nights Summer Music Festival on July 5. But, the announcement of that event on Feb. 23 on Facebook also brought out the news that the radio station would not be putting on their annual Country Jam, which has been held the third Saturday in August.
On a post on Facebook the comments by WGAR were at first answering questions about the Avon festival but focus turned when they stated “We don’t have plans to do Country Jam this year. It may return after that though.”
WGAR went on to explain further when a post popped up two days later…”we only made the collective decision that we would not be able to do a Country Jam the week before last. We tried up to that point to make things work, but they just did not. As soon as that decision was made, we changed our messaging to those who asked. There was never a point that we were not forthcoming. Hopefully, Country Jam will return.”
Unfortunately, the 28th annual installment of Country Jam will not take place in 2019. The festival will definitely be missed by myself and all of country fans that have attended the event over the years.
