Name of the Band/Act: Yosemite Slim
When did band form: 2015
Members: Christian Tyrod – Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar; Joel Bowers – Lead Guitar/Vocals; Nick Ballistria – Bass Guitar/Vocals and Aeneas Alldredge – Drums/Percussion.
About the band: Yosemite Slim first formed as a group that was just trying to have fun and play a few small gigs every month. They were almost done before they even started when their original bass player found out that he was getting divorced on the night of their first show. He left the group and they figured they were done, until they found a new bass player (Ballistria) and drummer (Aldridge) just a few months later. They got back together and have been performing regularly at venues ever since.
The band has an eclectic musical background with Tyrod having spent years with non-country groups, Bowers brings his experience with groups like Toast and Bad Habit, and provides the musical arrangement for the band and Alldredge spent years with touring band in the 80’s and 90’s and is a music teacher that is proficient on a number of instruments. Ballistria, has been the biggest surprise for the band, though he has never played out with a group he has become a consummate professional and even arranges all of the vocals for their harmonies.
Yosemite Slim plays a mix of Top 40 country and rock with songs from everyone from Johnny Cash to Billy Joel and the Eagles to Lynyrd Skynyrd. They have had the honor to perform at many venues in NE Ohio and opened the show for local touring band Welshey Arms. They were also invited to perform at the Liberty Rocks Festival at Crocker Park in Westlake. They will hit the stage at West Park Station in Fairview Park this Saturday, January 27.
Why you should see their show: Yosemite Slim brings out a mix of songs that will be very familiar to everyone, whether they are cranking out some rock classics or performing country favorites. The band always brings a high-energy show filled with their three-part harmonies. Though they perform an eclectic mix of music, country fans will be happy with their set list that can include everyone from Jason Aldean to Dierks Bentley, as well as some older country from Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney. Tyrod’s vocal range allows the group to emulate many of the artists that people love and try to find the sound of the original song to pull the crowd even more into their performances.
